Ladysmith Cross Country Girls Varsity team performed well at the Bill Smiley Invitational when they traveled to Wausau for the “ Smiley Invitational”.
“Andi Ostenso won her race which is always exciting, but the huge time improvements by the other runners is exciting as well and very encouraging,” Coach Anney Olson said.
Andi Ostenso ran a 14.49. Freshman Jess Ducummun ran a 18.40, Makaila Wallin ran 19.15 and Jessica Luckman ran a 19.46. Taija Walker had a great improvement in her time by running a 21.08 as did Rylie Daggett with a 22.23.
“These runners have been getting in distance runs, speed workouts, hill repeats, and tempo runs to improve aerobic thresholds. We are really starting to see the times drop. The hard work is paying off for the boys and girls teams,” Coach Olson also added “that having assistant coach Matt Bunton working with the middle school runners has made it possible for me to really focus on the varsity runners.”
