Reynolds seeks return to Ladysmith council Two incumbent aldermen in Ladysmith will face challengers in the April 7 spring general election, while another incumbent has chosen not to seek re-election to another term.
In the fifth district, incumbent Winnie Lee will be challenged by former city mayor Marty Reynolds.
Reynolds served as mayor of Ladysmith from 1986-92 and again in 2002 before resigning following his controversial comments about recovery efforts after a tornado demolished the city’s downtown.
Reynolds also served in the state assembly representative for the 87th district for 12 years and once ran for lieutenant governor.
Lee narrowly defeated Reynolds two years ago for alderman.
In the seventh district, incumbent Fred Love will face challenger Raymond Carlson.
In the first district, incumbent alderman Chuck Goin has filed a declaration of non-candidacy and will not seek re-election. Carol Huiras-Rozak has filed to run for the position.
Incumbent Michael Hraban will run unopposed in the third district.
In the Ladysmith-Hawkins School District, incumbents John Ziemer and Susan Hendricks will seek re-election.
In the Bruce School District, Daniel Kempen and Deb Klund will seek re-election.
In the Weyerhaeuser School District, incumbents Patricia Burak and Sandra Kastner will seek re-election.
In the Flambeau School District, incumbents Sue Mills and Theresa Gulish will be challenged by Doug Dicus and Amy Lund for two seats on the school board.
In the Village of Sheldon, all the incumbents are running unopposed in their bids for re-election. They include village president James Shaw, trustees Ken Carlsen and Phil Schneider, clerk Martin Huhn and treasurer Carole Carlsen.
Many area towns and villages will hold caucuses this month to determine the candidates for the spring election.
If necessary, a primary election will be held Feb. 17.
