Tenant flees burning home after smoke alarm sounds Luke Klink A home at the intersection of E. 7th Street N. and Park Avenue E. in the City of Ladysmith was destroyed by fire early in the morning on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The fire started in the chimney, according to fire chief Dave Tuma, and resident Yvonne Schultz was alerted by a smoke detector and got out safely.
He said the home and its contents were a total loss. Tuma credited the Ladysmith Police, County Sheriff’s Department and EMS for their assistance. The department was on scene for about five hours after responding at about 1:30 a.m.
