SFC SANDERSON — Shane is pictured here with his younger son, Zachary, during his leave this past September.

Shane doing well; he’ll be home for Christmas

SFC Shane Sanderson, the Army reservist from Ladysmith who was wounded Nov. 9 as the result of a mortar attack in Afghanistan, is now at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he is beginning his rehabilitation, his wife, Michelle, reported on Monday.

Shane is recovering well. Initially, he suffered head trauma as well as undergoing surgery to remove shrapnel from both legs. He is expected to return to Ladysmith shortly before Christmas where he will join his wife, Michelle, and children, Emma, Raya, Cole and Zack.

Shane has been awarded a Purple Heart for those wounded or killed in combat action.
