SMOKY FIRE —Firefighters from Sheldon and Ladysmith were called New Year’s Day morning to a house fire at N154 Whispering Pines Drive at the far northeast corner of the Lake Holcombe Flowage. Breathing apparatus was used while fighting the fire, which generated thick smoke that filled the air. A winding road made it difficult for fire trucks to reach the lakefront home. A Town of Willard truck was called in to sand the icy road. |
