Husband accused of shooting wife in face with .22 rifle faces six charges, 101 years

A Rusk County man suspected of shooting his estranged wife in the face with a .22 rifle faces six separate charges following the attack.

Gregory E. D’Amico, 42, is accused of shooting Kathleen D’Amico, 42, during a domestic assault at a home in the Town of Big Bend about 10 miles south of Bruce on Monday, Jan. 11.

A Rusk County Sheriff’s Deputy found Kathleen shortly after the shooting slumped over on the shoulder of the highway with blood on her clothes and “holding her face and making grunting type sounds.” She was transported for medical care, and three law enforcement agencies conducted an hour-long manhunt before the suspect Gregory D’Amico was arrested. He was officially charged in a 5-page criminal complaint filed last Friday in Rusk County Circuit Court.

More of this story appears in the Jan. 21, 2010, print edition of the Ladysmith News.
