CRASH AT THE CURVE — Traffic was rerouted Friday, Jan. 15, after two vehicles collided on the curve outside the Rusk County Fairgrounds in Ladysmith. One driver was given a ticket. An ambulance responded, but there were no medical transports.

Fairgrounds curve crash snarls traffic

Traffic on U.S. 8 by the Rusk County Fairgrounds was detoured onto neighborhood side streets in Ladysmith on Friday, Jan. 15, after a two-vehicle accident.

According to Ladysmith Police Chief Dean Meyer, an eastbound vehicle driven by Doug Groothousen, 37, of Holcombe crossed the center line before striking a westbound vehicle driven by Wesley Jensen, 28, of Rice Lake.

Groothousen was given a ticket for operating left of center, Meyer said.

The accident happened at about 5 p.m. The Rusk County Ambulance responded but it did not transport any passengers in the cars for medical injuries.
