Freezing rain, snow cause mishaps throughout Rusk County on Sunday Slippery roads resulting from freezing rain and snow resulted in numerous one vehicle accidents on Sunday, mostly in the morning and mostly involving cars in the ditch, according to Law Enforcement Center dispatch log.
An accident was reported at 2:38 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, at U.S. 8 and County F, Weyerhaeuser, according to the log.
A deputy and Bruce and Weyerhaeuser Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the rollover but no one was at the scene. Both ditches were checked and only two sets of footprints leading to the road in the same place were found. Area hospitals were contacted and there were no reports of injuries that appeared to be related to the accident. An ID was found under a seat but nobody answered the door at that residence and it was not known if anyone was at home. There was no further information available from the sheriff’s department.
