D’Amico’s request for signature bond, jail release denied Luke Klink A Rusk County man accused of shooting his estranged wife in the face with a .22 rifle had his request for a reduced cash bond and release from jail while the case is pending denied Monday in circuit court.
Gregory E. D’Amico, 42, faces six separate charges in the shooting of Kathleen D’Amico, 42, during an alleged domestic assault at a home in the Town of Big Bend about 10 miles south of Bruce on Monday, Jan. 11. The highway was closed for about one hour as law enforcement agencies conducted a nighttime search for the suspect. A search of the D’Amico home turned up a rifle believed to have been used in the shooting.
In making the request for bond modification, attorney Annette Barna said her client is a lifetime resident of Wisconsin, owns property in Rusk County, has cared for his children, has no criminal history to speak of and was employed prior to the incident. She said if Gregory D’Amico was released, he would be willing to be placed on electronic monitoring.
“I have reason to believe through the family that his job is still available if he can be released,” Barna said.
