Sylvester Wdowicki Sylvester Wdowicki, 89, of Ladysmith passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010.
A resident of Rusk County Nursing Home, Sylvester was born on Sept. 2, 1920, in Milwaukee. He was the son of Alexander and Mary Wdowicki, immigrants from Poland.
Sylvester loved trains. As a young man he worked on the west coast for the railroad. He lived in Milwaukee and worked at Nordberg, where he retired after 37 years.
He married Celia of Milwaukee on Dec. 26, 1964. Upon his retirement they moved to Rusk County in August 1981.
Sylvester was a member of the Flambeau Rock and Mineral Society. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, music, and travel. He also enjoyed taking seniors fishing, taking them on pontoon rides, playing sheepshead with friends and listening to his wife sing.
Sylvester and his wife wintered in Mexico for 15 years before illness limited their travels.
Sylvester is survived by his brothers Leonard (Millie) Wdowicki and Edward (Jane) Wdowicki; his sister Maryann Gorski; his daughters Audrey (Rick) Wilbur of Janesville, Lila (Dave) Gazdik of Ladysmith, Linda (James) Taylor of East Troy, Hope (Luis) Velasco of Milwaukee and Chris Bautista of Milwaukee; and his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Alexander and Mary, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Celia Wdowicki and his sister Marcella Novak.
Services will be held at the Rusk County Nursing Home Chapel, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 5.
