Ladysmith school administrator optimistic about budget despite revenue projections The School District of Ladysmith will have to make spending reductions in its 2010-11 budget if it proceeds with one of the three scenarios in a budget forecast presented during a school board meeting last Wednesday.
The school district is projecting a $10,294,712 revenue cap as set by the state for next school year.
Based on that figure, business services director Kurt Lindau presented several scenarios to the board:
A 3 percent increase in spending over this school year will require $150,774 in reductions.
A 4 percent increase in spending over this school year will require $266,749 in reductions.
A 5 percent increase in spending over this school year will require $382,725 in reductions.
This is an estimate that will be updated continuously through October as more information becomes available, Lindau said.
