Common Council approves study to search for water Luke Klink The Ladysmith Common Council voted 7-0, Monday, to pay up to a total of $50,665 for a groundwater exploration program to site a high-capacity municipal well city.
The Schofield resource exploration and production firm Layne-Northwest will be paid $5,500 to review and analyze past exploration studies, geologic reports, test boring logs and domestic well logs to determine the well location possibilities within the city and surrounding areas. It will also be paid $19,165 to conduct a geophysical survey to locate the areas with the highest potential for sustaining a high-capacity well.
The council asked for the firm to return to the council before proceeding with the $21,990 final phase — an exploratory test-drilling program of promising sites identified by the previous two phases of the search.
