Friday: Bruce firefighters battle smoky house fire Portable water tanks were set up on Wis. 40 just south of Bruce and the highway restricted to a single lane of traffic late Friday afternoon as firefighters battled a smoky house fire.
The home was loacted along the west side of the highway, on a wooded lot nearby several other homes.
Law enforcement directed traffic through the scene.
Flames were not visible as smoke rose from several windows. Portable fans were brought up to the home's front door.
At least two people were transported by ambulance to Rusk County Memorial Hospital. The patients were later airlifted by helicopter to another medical facility.
Bruce Fire, Bruce Ambulance, first responders and Rusk County Sheriff's Department responded.
