On Feb. 3 at 6:06 p.m. the Ladysmith Police Department with the assistance of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were dispatched to a domestic incident involving a stabbing located at 701 Miner Avenue East in the City of Ladysmith.
Upon arrived at the residence officers were advised that the victim, Erick J. Kowalski had left the residence and had been taken to the Rusk County Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained from being stabbed approximately four to five times with a folding knife as reported by the witnesses.
Robert Charles McGinn, 55 of Ladysmith was arrested for attempted homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon and Injury by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon.
Erick J. Kowalski, 19 of Ladysmith sustained three knife wounds to the chest/abdominal area and one wound on the inside of his left wrist from a 3 ¾ inch blade knife. Kowalski was later transported to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire for further treatment.
Reports were forwarded to the Rusk County District Attorney’s Office and McGinn is expected to have his initial appearance on Tuesday Feb. 5, 2013 at 3:30 p.m.
