Jacks passing game too much for Hatchets
The Ladysmith Lumberjacks opened the 2010 football season with a big first half offensively, scoring 26 points before the intermission that included over 200 yards of passing by senior quarterback Eric Effertz with a pair of touchdown passes to Todd Sarauer and Ryley Closs in the process while the Jacks built a 26-7 lead on their way to the 39-14 victory.
Not only was the passing attack able to build up a lot of yards but the ground game for Ladysmith was also solid, racking up 152 yards on the ground during the game.

Bruce starts football season with a victory over the Bobcats
Last Friday night at Bruce the Raiders recorded a good win against a Birchwood squad now without the co-op with Weyerhaeuser.
“We played a solid game defensively only giving up a handful of first downs to the Bobcats,” Coach Jason Lehman said. “Offensively, we moved the ball fairly successfully, but we need to improve on some of the mistakes before we take the field next Friday evening versus a high powered Shell Lake team.”

Falcons participate in four team scrimmage at Chippewa
The Flambeau Falcon football team played in a four team scrimmage last week at Dorias Field, which is the home field for the Chippewa Falls Macks.
“This has been a very good scrimmage for us over the years,” Coach Mark Stamper said. “We played McDonnel, Cadott and Ladysmith. Both Cadott and Ladysmith are bigger schools while McDonnel is perennially a very small school but they were in last year’s state championship game.

Jacks preparing to host Tomahawk
The Ladysmith Lumberjack football team will host Tomahawk on Friday night to open the football season and will be looking to avenge a 13-6 loss last year to the Hatchets at Tomahawk.
Ladysmith has eleven seniors on the team this year and eleven returning letterwinners from last years team that finished 3-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
