An ATV operator suffered life-threatening injuries during a crash on Labor Day.

The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a crash involving two ATVs on Trail #31, about 4 miles north of Chippewa Trail in the Town of Hayward at 7:20 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.

The caller advised the male operator of one of the ATVs was seriously injured and was unresponsive but breathing.

Sawyer County sheriff's deputies responded, assisted by the LCO Police Department, town of Hayward Fire Department, city of Hayward Fire Department, LCO Fire Department and Sawyer County Ambulance EMTs and Paramedic.

The injured 38-year-old male victim was later airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minn. with life threatening injuries.

The name of the victim and his medical condition are not being released at this time.
