Delaine Read, 86, of Ladysmith, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Lake Manor.
Delaine was born on July 22, 1933, in McLaughlin, S.D., to John and Lydia (Lout) Wolff.
She had many passions in life; she was involved with AARP, the Women’s Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society and manna meals. She loved collecting recipes and also loved birds and horses. Her number one passion was shopping at Walmart and Connections.
Later when Alzheimer’s set in, Delaine found a passion in making beaded bracelets. She liked to give them to everyone. She also liked to color and had her walls decorated with her pictures.
Delaine is survived by her sister; Helen Ploutz of Ellsworth, Kan.; her daughter, Karen Petri (Albert) of Russellville, Ark., her son, Kevin (Terry) Read; her grandchildren, Michael and Taylor Read, all of Hayward, and a special niece, Clarice “Tuddy” Huber of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kurt; her three brothers and her three sisters.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith with Deacon Doug Sorenson officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith.
