Hayshakers pick up two league wins
The Tony Hayshakers got back in the win column this past week as they picked up two big wins in Upper13 league play as they defeated Haugen and Hurley to push their record to 4-3 in the conference standings.
Last Tuesday the Hayshakers were on the road to take on the Haugen Hornets and Tony got off to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Haugen took the lead in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own as the score sat 1-2.
Haugen stretched their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning, but after a one run sixth and a two run seventh the pitching of the Hayshakers shut the Hornets down to take the 5-3 victory on the road.
Ethan Martin finished the night with two hits and two RBIs as Kevin Brockman and Jon Nelson also had two hits each. Dakota Herrman had a RBI as well in the Hayshaker victory.
On the mound for the Shakers was the trio of Herrman, Brockman and Martin as Herrrman and Brockman had four strikeouts while Martin sat down one.
On Saturday the Hayshakers finally got the opportunity to play at home in front of their home crowd as part of Tony Daze and they didn’t disappoint as they shutout the Hurley Timberjaxx in a highly anticipated match up as they went on to score seven runs to pick up the 7-0 victory.
Bryce Meverden was the leading RBI scorer for the Hayshakers as he drove in four runs, Martin had three hits on the day and Riley Herbes had two. Carter Verdegan and Scottie Mateski each had a RBI in the big win Saturday for the Hayshakers.
Herbes was the man on the mound for Tony as he pitch a complete game shutout, going all nine innings as he stuck out 10 Timberjaxx in the victory.
