Bruce close out busy week 3-2
The Bruce baseball team was busy last week as they played five games in six days that saw them finish at home Saturday at their home baseball tournament.
On Monday the Raiders had a 5-4 lead before the Falcons took over the game and closed the Raiders out as Bruce fell on the road 8-5 to the Falcons. Dan Brockman and Kurt Chafer had two hits on the day as Sawyer Gerber and Connor Checkalski each had one RBI in the loss.
On Tuesday the Raiders were home to take on the Siren Dragons and it was all Bruce as they scored seventeen runs in the bottom of the second inning as they went on to a dominating 19-4 victory.
Matthew Blodgett finished the game with three hits and three RBIs as Chafer also had three RBIs and Chris Brockman finished with two.
Dan Brockman picked up the win on the mound in two innings as he went on sit down three Dragons in the victory.
On Friday the Raiders ran into The Lake Holcombe/Cornell Knights that were ready to avenge their earlier loss to Bruce as they held the Raiders to just one run in the fifth inning as the Knights went on to an 11-1 victory at home. Blodgett drove in the only run on the night for the Raiders in the road loss.
On Saturday the Raiders finished out the week at their home tournament as they took down Solon Springs 7-3 in seven innings. Gerber finished the game with three hits and three RBIs as Dan Brockman had two hits and Chris Brockman drove in a run for the Raiders. Dan Brockman picked up the victory in five and two thirds innings striking out five batters.
The Raiders were up 4-3 on Prentice in game two, but stats were unavailable at time of print.
Thursday, the Raiders are back in action as they are on the road to take on the Cameron Comets as the get set for the WIAA Regional.
