Hayshakers are perfect at Blue Hills Fest

The Tony Hayshakers continued their winning ways this past weekend as they picked up two more victories as they competed in Bruce at the Blue Hills Fest this past Weekend.

On Friday night the Hayshakers took on Turtle Lake/Clayton and got off to a fast start as they scored five runs in the first five innings to take a 5-0 lead . Behind great pitching and defense the Hayshakers went on to a 5-1 victory as Chase Groothousen had two hits, Patrick Papiernik had two RBIs while Ethan Martin drove in one.

Bryce Meverden pitched four inning in the three hit victory as he and Carter Verdegan both had four strikeouts in the Hayshaker victory.

On Sunday the Hayshakers took on the Iron City Miners and just like Friday night Tony drove in four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead that lasted until the seventh inning where Iron City scored a run to bring the score to 4-1. The Hayshakers drove in two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh as well as two more in the eighth as they went on to a 9-1 victoy over the Minors.

Connor Copras finished the day with two hits and two RBIs for the Hayshakers as Jon Kaiser finished with one RBI.

Riley Herbes was the winning pitcher as he went seven innings, striking out seven batters as Dakota Herrman picked up the save in the final two innings, striking out three Miners.
