Raiders look to be in hunt for conference title

The Bruce Boy’s basketball team has their sights set on being in the mix this season for a conference title as head coach, Jason Lehman enters his seventh season as the head coach of the Bruce boy’s program.

With two of their leading scorers lost to graduation last year the Raiders will look to some returning faces as well as some new ones to replace Connor Checkalski and Kevin Brocman, who combined for 34 points a game a season ago.

Dexter Roatch and Dan Brockman  will be leaned on heavily this season as the two starters returning from a season ago to lead the way as The Raiders hope to be in the mix for a East Lakeland Conference title this season. “Our goal is to compete for the conference title, but we are young at a lot of positions and backup positions and will look for some new faces to step up each night we take the court,” stated coach Lehman.

With the likes of Birchwood, New Auburn and Lake Holcombe looking to be in the mix the Raiders will look for many on their roster to step up and solidify their line-up as they will look to seniors, Brady Gauthier and Roatch to lead the way. Junior this season are Dan Brockman and McCoy Mansky. Sophomores are Chris Brockman, Dom Tinker and Leo Zimmer. The Raiders will have several freshman competing for playing time as well as they are Mitchell Lehman, Jake Thome, Matt Popowich, Dylan Trott, Tyler Bader, Colton Rodewald and Corbin DeChane.

The Raiders look to return off of break as they head to Flambeau Thursday, Dec. 5 to take on the Falcons in Lakeland Conference action.
